Turkey's Dalyan Coast

Dalyan is a small town on the south western coast of Turkey. Dalyan is on a river delta, its narrow waterways, surrounded by reed beds, also perfect for a relaxed family holiday.

Dalyan

Dalyan is perfect for a relaxed family holiday, on a river delta, its narrow waterways, surrounded by reed beds.

The small town is set to a backdrop of stunning mountains, the river overlooked by ancient Lycian style tombs carved high into the rock face. The nightlife is very laid back but there are some nice bars here, which are open until late. The town itself is flat and easy to get around.

Kaunos

Visit the ancient city of Kaunos, with its impressive theatre and Temple of Apollo. The ruins of the ancient city of Kaunos was originally on the sea, but its harbour gradually silted up and felt into disuse.

Iztuzu

The beautiful spit of sand which is the Iztuzu beach is completely undeveloped, and is reached by a pleasant boat trip from Dalyan. Boats depart regularly from the riverfront for the short trip to Iztuzu beach. It is a beautiful bar of fine, golden sand gently shelving into the sea.

Iztuzu beach is a nesting ground for the rare Caretta Caretta turtles lay their eggs here in the clean fine sand.

Sarigerme

Sarigerme is this area's fastest growing tourism center. With its back surrounded by pine forests and facing a long beach with fine sand and a clean sea, it is located only 12 km. from the Dalaman airport.

Sarigerme's sea, still shallow at a distance of 200 m. from the coast, can get quite warm and is a very special location indeed for families with children.
