Discover Izmir, home of train stations
There are two main train stations in Izmir for different uses. Alsancak Train Station is for the intercity train services and Basmane Train Station is for the regional train services.
Trains are the excellent way to get to and around Izmir. Izmir has two railway stations, which are Basmane Railway Station and Alsancak Railway Station.
Basmane Railway Station is in the city center, serves regional trains and the metro. Alsancak Railway Station is in the north of the city, serves intercity trains and the Izmir commuter train.
Izmir's rail transport system is a part of the Turkish State Railways network and the Izmir Metro. Also the new railway network and the train station for high speed trains are under construction.
Alsancak station is one of Izmir's two main railway stations and the second oldest train station in Turkey. This railway station is also one of the busiest stations, serviced by intercity trains.
Izmir's historic station of Basmane is located in Konak district, serviced by regional trains with connections to metro lines.
