Ilisu Waterfall is among the natural beauties of Mersin, offers an unforgettable sightseeing trip to visitors. The waterfall is just 3 km south east of the Ilisu village in Gulnar district of Mersin province in Turkey.
Ilisu Waterfall is 3 km ahead of Ilisu Village and they say that the rocky mountain was divided into two respecting the power of water while exhibiting a marvelous scenery. The road through the pinewoods leads you to the waterfall.
Ilisu Waterfall falls from a height of a building for about ten stories deafeningly. Water eroded the massive rock for a hundred meters; in other words,it eroded the rock like a cleft very steep for four meters. Waters run in considerably large amount squeezes in the cleft suddenly gushes down by an enormous pressure.
Water that falls through the narrow rocks gets wider while falling down and creates amazing colors like rainbow. It also creates a water cloud 4 to 5 meters where it falls. That magnificent view turns into a stream flows through the woods in calciferous and light blue.
Gezende Dam is at the 25th km and left side of Mut - Ermenek road amongst the pine woods. The road takes you to Gezende village ahead. The village has the scenery of dam. It also has historical remains and tombs engraved in rocks.
