Haydarpasa Raiway Station is located on the Asian side of Istanbul. This station is the point of departure for those traveling from Istanbul to cities and towns in Anatolia, as well as the terminal stop for those arriving from Anatolia.
Haydarpasa Train Station is one of the most important monuments of Istanbul. Its German style architecture at the seaside location makes it a symbol of Istanbul.
The history of the building dates back to 1908. Some of the warehouses in this train station were used for ammunition during the First World War, and a sabotage led to an explosion which caused extensive damage to building. However, the station has survived to our day as a monumental building on the Asian side of Istanbul.

Haydarpasa is the busiest railway station in Turkey and one of the busiest in Eastern Europe. The station on the Asian shore also is connected to the European shore by ferry to Karakoy.
