Discover Turkey and rent a wooden gulet
Gulet is one of the most characteristic components of a blue voyage along Turkey's Aegean and Mediterranean shores. The round stern and low profile in the water are some of the most prominent features of traditional wooden gulets.
Gulet, which is a traditional design of a wooden sailing boat, is especially built in Turkey's coastal towns of Bodrum, Fethiye and Marmaris. It is one of the important traditional values of our country. This type of vessels, varying in size from 14 to 35 m, is popular for tourist charters. Traditional wooden gulets are indispensable for the blue voyages. One of the most important reasons for the gulet cruise in Turkey is to discover spectacular turquoise waters, natural beauties and unique culture. A blue voyage on Turkey's southern Aegean and western Mediterranean coasts is an ideal choice for those seeking an enchanting summer holiday on wooden gulets.
Gulet: This traditional boat type is a favourite for the blue voyage. With its broad and rounded stern, it is ideally for relaxation, conversation and sociable dining.
Aynakic: Aynakic is a close relative of the gulet, but instead of being rounded like the gulet, the stern is flat.
Tirhandil: Tirhandil is a traditional boat type with a single mast, longbow, pointed stern and a fairly large hull.
The greatest advantage of this boat design is to provide lots of space for the passengers. Although the traditional design is preserved in the recent boat plans, they incorporate wider utilization areas in comparison with their predecessors used for fishing and transportation, along with more contemporary accessories and equipment.
The decks of the gulets are planned for the requirements of daily life. Usually the aft decks of the vessels are used for dining and resting, the fore deck is utilized as a terrace for sunbathing.
Almost all of the cabins are the same size and equipped either with a double bed or single bunk set. The cabins are provided with a toilet, shower and chest of drawers.
Another characteristic of the gulets is that, they are completely manufactured by a single master. The wooden gulets that have been built in Bodrum, Bozburun, Marmaris and Fethiye out of the lumber from the trees such as pine, chestnut and mahogany since hundreds of years, are fully equipped with safety equipment, along with the comfort they provide. Almost all of the gulets are equipped with VHF radios, signal guns, flags, first aid kits, life vests, extra sails, ropes and a small motor boat. In addition, equipment such as a mobile phone, music system and TV is placed at the disposal of the tour participants.
